# PostHog integration

> Connect PostHog so Gauge Chat can query your product analytics alongside your search data.

Connect PostHog to make events, persons, insights, and analytics queries available to Gauge Chat's analyst tools and [MCP](/help/mcp).

## Before you connect

Use a PostHog account with access to the projects you want to analyze. The integration is enabled per Gauge organization. If the card is missing, contact [support](mailto:support@withgauge.com) to check availability.

## Connect and verify

1. Open **Settings → Integrations → PostHog** in the Gauge workspace you want to use.
2. Select **Connect PostHog** and complete the authorization flow. Review the access requested before approving it.
3. Return to Gauge. The card shows **Connected** and the connected cloud region.
4. Wait for **Importing projects from PostHog…** to finish. Check the listed project names and IDs before querying data.

The imported project list tells Gauge which projects are available; it does not mean that every event has been copied into Gauge.

## Ask a question

In [Ask Gauge](/navigating/ask-gauge), name the PostHog project and date range. For example:

> In PostHog project \[project ID], list the events available for analyzing signups, then show the daily signup trend for the last 30 days using the event we select.

Use your actual event names and definitions. Ask Gauge to explain which project, event, and filters support its result before comparing it with another report.

## Troubleshoot the connection

| What you see | What to check |
| ---------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| No projects detected | Confirm that the account used to authorize Gauge can access the intended project and that the displayed cloud region is correct. |
| Importing projects does not finish | Look for a **Sync error** on the card. Share the message with support if it persists. |
| An error beside one project | Read the project-specific error and verify your access to that project in PostHog. |
| A query returns unexpected results | Confirm the project ID, event name, date range, and filters used in the question. |

## Disconnect

Select **Disconnect** on the PostHog card and confirm. Gauge's analyst tools and MCP queries that depend on PostHog stop working until you reconnect.
