# Notifications & Email Digests

> Understand the alerts Gauge sends, where they show up, and how to tune your email preferences under Settings → Email.

## Notifications & Email Digests

Gauge keeps you posted when something worth acting on happens — a new recommended action, one of your pages getting cited in an AI answer, or the results of an action you already shipped. Notifications reach you through the in-app bell, Slack, and a weekly digest email, so you can stay on top of your AI visibility without living in the dashboard.

## What Gauge Notifies You About

### New recommended actions

When Gauge finds new high-impact actions to improve your visibility, it lets you know the same day. These land as a bell notification and, if Slack is connected, as a post in your alert channel. They also roll up into the weekly digest. Each alert links to the [Action Center](/navigating/action-center), where you can accept, dismiss, or execute the recommendation.

### A new page was cited

When a page from your domain is cited in an AI answer for the first time, Gauge sends a "new page cited" alert. This arrives as a bell notification and, if enabled, a daily email summarizing the newly cited pages with deep links to where each one appeared.

### Action evaluation results

After a completed action has had time to take effect, Gauge measures its impact and sends an "Impact analysis" notification. This shows up in the bell and as an email, both linking to the action's results so you can see what changed.

### Workflow action auto-completed

When Gauge detects that a newly cited page matches an open content action, it marks that action complete for you and posts a bell notification for transparency. This one is in-app only — no email. If the match was wrong, you can reopen the action from the link in the notification.

## Where Notifications Show Up

* **In-app bell.** The bell in the top navigation shows an unread count and lists your recent notifications for the active company. Click one to jump to the relevant page, and mark items read individually or all at once. Every event type above surfaces here.
* **Slack.** With Slack connected, new recommended actions post to the channel you choose, with buttons to accept, dismiss, or execute right from Slack. See [Slack Integration](/help/slack-integration) for setup and channel configuration.
* **Weekly digest email.** A once-a-week summary of activity across the markets your company has enabled, so the whole team gets a regular pulse on visibility.

## Managing Email Preferences

Email settings live under **Settings → Email**. There are two areas:

**Per-person email toggles.** For each member of your company, you can turn individual emails on or off:

* **Weekly Digest** — the weekly summary of activity for your enabled markets.
* **New Page Alerts** — the daily email when one of your pages is cited in an AI answer for the first time.
* **Action Alerts** — an email with the highest-impact new actions, plus action evaluation results.
* **Product Updates** — occasional announcements about new Gauge features.

**Email Digests (markets).** Choose which markets your company should receive the weekly digest for. This is a company-wide setting that applies to everyone, whereas the toggles above are per person.

<Note>
  New Page Alert emails are being rolled out gradually. If you don't see them for your organization yet, reach out to [support@withgauge.com](mailto:support@withgauge.com) to have them enabled.
</Note>

<Tip>
  The in-app bell always shows every event type regardless of your email settings, so turning off an email never means you'll miss the notification entirely.
